This is for anyone young or old that wants to make a difference to their life.
I started out with Scott at Complete Health & Fitness Solution’s 12months ago. I had a back injury and back surgery 2.5years ago, it changed me forever.
On my first visit I was nervous and had very low self-esteem. I was unsure on what to expect or what I was going to be in for. However I felt welcomed straight away and I knew I had made a good move. This was my time for change!
To those of you that are reading this, who have a medical condition of any sort, would understand that it’s hard to find someone who will do the right thing by you and more importantly, someone who you can trust to look after you. I can honestly say with a hand on my heart, that Scott will consider all aspects of your medical history and do what is best for you. Scott is able to explain what he is doing and why. Most importantly he gets down to your level & works with you at your own pace. He encourages you to keep going when things get tough.
Big Gym’s can be daunting and scary, especially when you aren’t self-confident about your body image and dread walking past mirrors but Scotts personalized gym and small groups makes you feel like you are working out at home. In time Complete Health & Fitness Solution becomes your home, as we are all friendly and are all there for the similar reason so we become like a big family.
I don’t really know were I would be today if it wasn’t for Scott’s support encouragement, guidance and caring nature. I was a young woman who had low self-esteem, was overweight and didn’t lead a healthy lifestyle. Now I have more confidence in myself, I’m happier and most importantly I’m healthier now and on the road to recovery. I am a completely new person!
By reading this I hope that I can inspire you and encourage you to make the change to become a better and healthier you, just like how Scott at CHFS has inspired me. CALL Scott at CHFS – What have you got to lose 🙂
Post cardiovascular intervention and rehabilitation
I had cardiac problems a year ago and after a procedure I went to cardiac rehab. Scott came in and gave a talk on what he could do for us, I asked a few people about his program’s, all with a positive response.
I thought I would compare with some gyms that were a lot closer as I live out the Beaches. They all seemed cheaper but there was no supervision or tailored program’s unless you paid extra, plus there were no 3 monthly reassessments etc I found everything costs at these other gyms, plus I could not justify buying all the costly Lycra that they all seem to wear…lol. I thought I would give Scott a try, best thing I can remember doing for a long time…
(this could be because I can’t remember anything lol) the other members are great and very friendly, we always have a yap and a laugh. I call it Scott’s social club and really look forward to going with the added bonus of a huge improvement in my fitness. Scott is always there to help and advise or change your program if it is not quite right for you. I would highly recommend giving it a try.
So this is for all the folk out there, who are 50, 60, 70 who have specific ailments that are not general to the rest of the world but specifically for them and they need Scott “The Man” to absolutely do a plan just for you, uniquely you and your ailment and i found this place accidentally, didn’t know about it, fantastic.
You know Scott understands my rheumatoid, who else understands rheumatoid and pain in the bones and i have a plan for me, doesn’t fit anybody else but it fits me and so i encourage everybody with their ailments be it whatever it is to come visit Scott, 149 English street, i fell across this wonderful gem of a place accidentally, I’ve never been to a gym in my life, its not intimidating and if i can hang here, so can you.
2015 this is your new years resolution, come and join me, ha ha!!
All we want to do is to get fit in accordance within our age factor and this we do under the expert guidance of Scott and Leon. We have learnt to control our breathing, especially Dawn who has a problem in that area and our GP has commented he has seen change in our health.
I Started with Scott When i was using the equipment at Active Health Clubs in Piccones shopping centre on Pease st. When he moved to PCYC i followed, we were there for some time until he opened this centre with the new equipment and of course i followed the move . Scott has a very capable assistant in Leon who has all the right credentials. At one stage i was at the crossroads and did not know if i wanted to continue with the exercises but under the guidance of scott i was convinced to carry on.
I have reduced my visits to once a week and my wife dawn is also a member with me. I am restricted in doing some of the exercises owing that i have a back and spinal problem and the exercise programme that scott and leon have drawn up i can handle easy Dawn also has an exercise plan easily maintained. All we want to do is to get fit in accordance within our age factor and this we do under the expert guidance of Scott and Leon. We have learnt to control our breathing, especially Dawn who has a problem in that area and our GP has commented he has seen change in our health.
While my CABG surgery was done at Townsville in November 2011, the pre and post support at Cairns Base Hospital was outstanding. As the hospital rehab programme neared its conclusion we were told about some of the resources in the community for ongoing rehab and health. thanks largely to a friend who trod this path a few years ago, in February 2012 i joined Complete Health and Fitness Solutions in a subsidised care programme arranged by my GP.
After 9 months without complications, i believe that i can continue to improve my health however i do not plan to be a 75-yr-old Mr Universe. I am happy to regularly walk 2km – not 8km that some friends do. two sessions each a week here at the gym suits me fine. My goal of small progressive reductions from my pre-operation weight is on track. Why do i use this organisation?
staff have a high level of qulaification and training
all assessments and exercsies are based upon individual needs
there is no attempt to make one size fit all
there are no big classes of noisy or exuberant activity
eaach individual session is by appointment and i have not had to share equipment with more than 3 others
none of the equipment is difficult to manage and adjust
the music in the ggym is not personal preference but is played a t areasonable volume and it cannot be heard outside of the building
at my session time, young clietns are a minority
there is a considerable group attending under a VA programme
when not being directly supervised i am aware of being observed every few minutes
the staff is committed to providing a qulaity experience
from time to time i am offered a correction or a better position for an activity
regularly there is something to smile or laugh about and that is a good thing to be happening
in addition to ongoing spot assessments a formal measurement and assessment is conducted every three months
My name is Peter. I am, as they say, “an old fart” (65 years old) who has had a complete turnaround in his lifestyle. Eight years ago I was medically retired from work. The reasons I retired early were a combination of a major cancer scare, a second major scare with MRSA (Golden Staph) and, severe stress related to many years of 50+ hour work weeks.
I was a real mess. I was told that if I didn’t quit work I would be dead within two years. There is no doubt I am healthier and fitter than I have been for at least twenty years. This turnaround has been due in no small part to Scott and his team at CHFS.
I first met Scott in January 2014. A mutual acquaintance referred me to him for help. I had been on a number of “get fit” programs since 2009 but they didn’t really work. Even though I was getting better, I had made very limited progress. In 2013 I had a real dilemma on my mind. I had been challenged by a family member to ride a bike in an annual cycling event called the Cairns to Karumba bike ride. She had done the ride the previous two years. In a weak moment (probably with too much Christmas cheer on board) I accepted the challenge. A few days later it dawned on me that I had one very big hill to climb if I was going to succeed. That was not only getting really fit, but also having the stamina and endurance to be able to ride a bike for up to 170km in a day over a variety of different terrains and still be able to walk after it, and then repeat it for seven days in a row!
Scott did an initial assessment and developed a program that would help me achieve the goal. The program was designed such that as I got better and fitter I could do more challenging exercises. When the actual ride began, I was terrified that I wasn’t going to survive the first day’s ride to Atherton, let alone the second day from Atherton to Mt Garnet via the hills around Herberton and Ravenshoe. To cut a long story short, I was able to ring Scott from Mt Garnet and thank him for his efforts. The elation I felt was amazing. I knew that I was going to make it all the way to Karumba (and I did!).
After this event, I set another goal to do the same trip in 2015, but this time on a mountain bike as part of the “Dirty Boys” group. To do this, a much higher level of fitness is required when compared to riding a normal road bike so Scott developed another program to help me reach this higher fitness level. Unfortunately for me, an unknown heart condition got in the way and I ended up in hospital in Brisbane about a month before the ride. After some tests I had a pacemaker /defibrillator fitted and had to take it easy for a while. Nevertheless Scott was again able to create a program that helped me rehabilitate extremely quickly and get back to fitness. Once I was given the ok to do more serious things, Scott again developed a program that enabled me to easily conquer this year’s (2016) ride. While I will do the ride again next year, I have through Scott and his team at CHFS, developed the confidence to seriously think about even greater challenges – maybe a walk up to Bartle Frere or a week long bike tour of the high altitude trails on the south island of New Zealand or perhaps do a couple of stages of the Tour de France. Who knows?
PS: The family member who challenged me to do the initial ride pulled out of the event a week before it was due to happen and went to live in Melbourne instead.
